Research: Innovation

The ability of consultants and their clients to generate and implement innovative solutions has never been greater. The second biggest reason clients recruit consultants is to get access to innovative ideas, yet only 52% are satisfied with the levels of creativity they eventually get.

More importantly, innovation in consultancies, whilst having been shown to be crucial to UK competitiveness, have also been shown to be under considerable pressure from a number of forces.

This two year research project is funded by the ESRC and AIM and has been supported by the MCA, CIPS and the IBC. The study involved in depth case-studies at large consultancies, such as IBM, PA Consulting and PWC, and smaller consultancies, such as Digital Public and Chameleon Works. The research also involved an in-depth questionnaire completed by over 200 consultancies.
